CARERS LO CALL SUPPORT-LINE
1890-201-533
Wednesday & Thursday 10am to 1pm
West Cork Carers Support Group’s Lo call Support-line was established in 2001, recognising the isolation
experienced by many Carers in the West Cork area. The aims of the Support-line are to:
Provide a listening ear & support to all Carers
Give information on benefits & entitlements
Refer Carers to other relevant sources of information and support
This is a confidential service which is often the first point of contact we have with Carers in the community.
The service also provides an on-going support system for all West Cork Carers Support Group members. If you have any queries or concerns about your caring, no matter how big or small please call 1890 201 533 on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 10am to 1pm.
NEWS
CARERS NEEDS RESEARCH
Over the coming months a team of researchers, including Peer researchers, will be conducting a project on Carer/Support Persons Needs.
The research is being undertaken on behalf of the HSE, RehabCare, West Cork Carers Support Group, National Learning Network and CoAction. The Peer Researchers will be working in pairs conducting interviews and running focus groups in the following selected geographical areas:
DED 052: Killaconenagh (Castletownbere)
DED 001: Clonakilty Urban
DED 310: Ballydehob
DED 114 &115: Dunmanway North & Dunmanway South (Town)
The aims of the research are:
• to profile the needs of Carers/Support Persons, services used & unmet needs
• to identify Carers needs for different age groups, care groups and dependency levels
• to identify how best service providers can address Carers needs.
It is hoped that the outcomes will be published in late 2010.

It commenced on the 27th October 2009 and replaces the previous arrangements in respect of both public and private long-term nursing home care.
WCCSG have a pack available to Carers summarising the seminar which can be forwarded to Carers or you may wish to give us a call to discuss the scheme or clarify any questions you may have? Tele: 027-53848
